SunCity FM’s high school disk jock competition spins off mid-January

From January 17 to March 25, SunCity 104.9 FM’s broadcasting studios will be transformed into the ultimate battleground, as the schools duke it out over ten weeks of high energy and intense rounds.

The winner will score an internship on SunCity 104.9FM, which will provide mentorship and honing of already existing disc jock skills and will foster training and development, empowering and educating the winning disc jock in all aspects of radio production and broadcasting.

CEO of Suncity 104.9FM Steve Billings expressed excitement at the opportunity to provide this musical platform, where students competing are able to learn, grow and achieve great things.

He believes that by embracing music and entertainment in our youth, they may be more inclined to view it as a viable and lucrative career path.

The competition seeks to instil good sportsmanship and self-discipline among the student jocks and their schools, through the mentorship from the well experienced Suncity Sun Jock coaches, the radio support team as they are guided by the theme of the competition, ‘Avoid negative addiction and stick to education’.

SunCity 104.9FM is once again looking to partner with the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Men with a Message, as well as the Ministry of Education, Youth & Information,t he Ministry of Gender, Culture, Entertainment & Sports and other sponsors to reinforce positive message of the importance of education.

This year’s winner will be crowned The 2017 Ultimate High School Sun Jock and will win many prizes for themselves and their schools including The 2017 Ultimate High School Sun Jock Trophy.

The three top schools will be selected for the finals on March 25th.

They will face off in 3 exciting rounds which will be judged by: the competition’s Radio Host and two other judges from within the Industry.

Listeners on the 104.9 FM frequency and supporters at the various schools can look forward to being energized by the battling rounds, and of course, competing schools can look forward to being treated from our sponsors with giveaways, presentations and entertainment.
