Strong gains recorded during Thursday's trading
A number of stocks made double-digit gains on Thursday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
JMMB Preference shares gained 17 per cent to close at $0.76, Elite Diagnostics gained 16 per cent to close at $4.45, Jetcon gained 10 per cent to close at $1.09, Key Insurance gained 10 per cent to close at $4.95.
On the losing side, Sygnus Credit lost 12 per cent to close at US$0.13.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 312.83 points ( 0.08 per cent) to close at 377,065.67.
The JSE Index advanced by 199.13 points ( 0.05 per cent) to close at 379,243.55. The Junior Market Index advanced by 12.09 points (0.46 per cent) to close at 2,615.01. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 1.22 points (0.66 per cent) to close at 183.63. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.17 points (0.17 per cent) to close at 98.38. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.02 points (0.03 per cent) to close at 77.95.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 79 stocks of which 29 advanced, 36 declined and 14 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 16,163,979 units valued at over $113,454,921.30. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 4,385,726 units (27.13per cent) followed by Transjamaican highway with 3,545,994 units ( 21.9per cent) and JMMB Group with 1,082,918 units (6.70 per cent) .
