Strong gains for Kingston Wharves, VMIL on Tuesday

Kingston Wharves (KW) led gains during Tuesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) with Victoria Mutual Investment Limited closing at an all-time high.

KW gained 15.3 per cent to close at $66.06. Sygnus Credit followed gains up 7.9 per cent to close at US$0.17.

VMIL rallied again today closing at $11.00, up less than 1.0 per cent on the day but 23 per cent since the start of January from $8.99.

Meanwhile, Portland JSX and Radio Jamaica led declines down 9.7 per cent and 9.04 per cent respectively.

The JSE Combined Index advanced by 7,002.16 points (1.43 per cent) to close at 497,738.63 and the JSE Index advanced by 7,718.70 points (1.56 per cent) to close at 503,194.75.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 8,517.00 points (1.57 per cent) to close at 552,549.31. The Junior Market Index declined by 8.19 points (0.25 per cent) to close at 3,226.88.

The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 4.19 points (1.76 per cent) to close at 241.65. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 1.81 points (1.35 per cent) to close at 136.14. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.21 points (0.22 per cent) to close at 95.62.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 71 stocks of which 25 advanced, 35 declined and 11 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 39,187,888 units valued at over $137.05 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 22.15 million units (56.54per cent) followed by Sagicor Select Financial with 6,156,996 units (15.71 per cent) and Sagicor Select Manufacturing and Distribution with 2,237,097 units (5.7 per cent).
