Strong gains for CPJ, Supreme Ventures, Wisynco on Thursday
Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ), Supreme Ventures and Wisynco Group recorded strong gains during Thursday's trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
CPJ gained 27 per cent to close at $3.26, Supreme Ventures gained 15.5 per cent to close at $17.67 and Wisynco gained 14.1 per cent to $19.40.
On the other hand, Salada Foods dipped by 12 per cent to $28.46, with Derrimon Trading down 10.7 per cent to $1.67.
The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Combined Index advanced by 4,731.95 points (1.21 per cent) to close at 394,956.70; the JSE Index advanced by 4,729.33 points (1.20 per cent) to close at 398,359.12 and the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 5,242.93 points (1.21 per cent) to close at 437,367.88.
The JSE Select Index advanced by 176.10 points (1.74 per cent) to close at 10,294.66, while the JSE Cross Listed Index declined by 0.69 points (0.89 per cent) to close at 77.03.
The Junior Market Index advanced by 35.39 points (1.36 per cent) to close at 2,642.81.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 2.26 points (1.10 per cent) to close at 202.37.
Additionally, the JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.43 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 108.06 and the JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index advanced by 2.18 points (2.89 per cent) to close at 77.58.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 74 stocks of which 36 advanced, 23 declined and 15 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 48 million units valued at over $471.2 million. Transjamaican Highway Limited was the volume leader with 11,186,519 units (23.29per cent) followed by Sagicor Group Jamaica with 5,271,009 units (10.98per cent) and Maipac Group with 5,207,096 units (10.84per cent).
