Police are urging persons to desist from circulating a video of Wednesday morning's murder-suicide scene in the Waltham Park Road area.

A graphic video currently making the rounds on social media is causing extreme distress to the victims’ family and friends, according to the law enforcement officers.

“It serves no one’s interest to circulate such imagery,” commanding officer for the St Andrew South Division, Superintendent Gary Francis said.

He reminded members of the public that the rights of freedom of expression and freedom of speech must be exercised with due sensitivity to the rights of others.

“Consider the dignity of the persons, and how it affects the living,” he said.

Correctional officer Patrick Cowan reportedly shot dead his estranged wife, Roulene Clarke, before turning the gun on himself along Woodpecker Avenue off Waltham Park Road in St Andrew on Wednesday morning.

The incident has sent shock waves across the nation.
