Sterling Investments, Sagicor led gains on Wednesday
Sterling Investments and Sagicor Group Jamaica led gains on Wednesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Both stocks grew by single digit amounts but still led the market which saw more decliners than advancers.
Sterling Jamaica dollar stock gained 8.8 per cent to close at $2.84 followed Sagicor up 7.6 per cent to close at $44.22.
Ciboney group declined at the largest pace down 15 per cent to $0.11.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 4,056.77 points (1.11 per cent) to close at 370,079.98. The JSE Index advanced by 4,591.19 points (1.25 per cent) to close at 372,908.59.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 5,003.20 points (1.24 per cent) to close at 408,622.22.
The JSE Select Index advanced by 185.25 points (2.05 per cent) to close at 9,240.66 and the JSE Cross Listed Index advanced by 2.56 points (2.61 per cent) to close at 100.64.
The Junior Market Index declined by 15.76 points (0.62 per cent) to close at 2,507.21, while the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 1.68 points ( 0.90 per cent) to close at 184.35.
Also on the day, the JSE Financial Index advanced by 1.76 points (1.86 per cent) to close at 96.63.
The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.19 points (0.25 per cent) to close at 75.50.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 78 stocks of which 28 advanced, 31 declined and 19 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 17 million units valued at over $236.7 million. General Accident was the volume leader with 5,216,851 units (30.66 per cent) followed by Proven Investments USD with 3,740,978 units (22 per cent) and Wigton Windfarm with 1,912,553 units (11.24 per cent).
