STATHS, KC and George's hunt 4-straight on Match Day 8 of Manning Cup

Last year's beaten finalists St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) and Kingston College (KC) are among five teams, which will be looking to protect their perfect records on Match Day 8 of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football competition on Friday.

The other teams which will enter the day will perfect records are St George's College, Mona High and St Catherine High.

The day will feature 15 matches across fives groups, all starting at 3:30 pm.

STATHS, which have ticked off three three victories, will host Cumberland High at Bumper Hall in Group A where they and St George's College have already distinguished themselves as the favourites for the two automatic places that will advance to the next round.

Both have nine points with St George’s College leading on goal difference. However, while the two are highly fancied to finish first and second in the group, Cumberland High, which are trailing in third place by five points, will be trying to keep in the hunt for a spot in the second round.

The situation is similar in Group B with leaders KC and Mona High locked on nine points from three games, while Calabar High and Dunoon Technical, both trailing by six points, will be trying to stick around.

KC are highly fancied to tick off four straight victories but Mona High face a tricky assignment.

North Street-based KC will host Ardenne High at the Stadium East field and the 'Purples' are on a high having rammed in 17 goals from three matches and yet to concede any, Only St George's College (20 from three games) have achieved more goals than KC.

Mona High will travel to Rockfort Football Club for a date with Dunoon Technical.

KC's opponents Ardenne High are languishing second-from-the-bottom of the table without a point from two games where they have conceded six goals and score one; while Dunoon Technical, which have secured a victory and lost two games, could push Mona High, which have only score just about a goal per match.

St Catherine High, the other team which enters the day with a perfect record, will travel to Cling Cling Oval for an assignment with second-from-the-bottom Penwood High.

St Catherine High are leading Group E courtesy of goal difference over Excelsior High, which have played a game more. Both are on six points, a two-point lead over third-place Haile Selassie High.
