Stanley Motta up more than 15% to lead stock gains

Stanley Motta Limited (SML) led gains Monday in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

SML gained 15.38 per cent to close at $5.25, followed by Main Event Entertainment Group (MEEG), up 11.63 per cent to close at $6.24. The day’s largest decline was Ironrock Insurance Company Limited (ROC), down 25.69 per cent to close at $3.50.

The JSE Combined Index advanced by 2,620.69 points (0.73 per cent) to close at 363,327.25. The JSE Index advanced by 2,880.96 points (0.81 per cent) to close at 357,168.84.

The Junior Market Index declined by 2.31 points (0.07 per cent) to close at 3,206.08. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.36 points (0.23 per cent) to close at 157.79. Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 51 stocks of which 25 advanced, 21 declined and 5 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 14,284,245 units valued at over $449,293,750.94. Grace Kennedy Limited was the volume leader with 7,016,055 units (49.12 per cent) followed by Derrimon Trading Company Limited with 5,019,628 units (35.14 per cent) and Panjam Investment Limited with 305,749 units (2.14 per cent).
