St Mary man for trial July in shooting death of girlfriend

A man — who allegedly shot his girlfriend in the head last year as she made her way to his home — will be tried in the St Mary Circuit Court July 3.

The date was set Thursday following a committal hearing in the St Mary Parish Court.

Accused Patrick Moodie — otherwise called Chen or Ramas of Mason Hall district — is to be tried for the May 22, 2016 slaying of 30-year-old Samantha Lindsay from Chudleigh in Manchester.

Following the committal hearing Thursday, Moodie was reoffered bail by Senior Parish Judge Yvette Wentworth-Miller in the sum of $500,000 with surety.

He’s to surrender his travel documents and is to report Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to the Port Maria Police Station.

Police reports are that residents heard explosions at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night, May 22, 2016 in the Grants Town area in St. Mary.

The police were summoned and Lindsay was found on the ground with a bullet wound to the head. Lindsay died at hospital.
