St James security forces continue to reap success against ‘gangsters’
The security forces in St James continue to reap success against gang activities, with the seizure of several firearms and ammunition during an operation in the Hendon area of the parish on Wednesday, August 5.
This followed the arrest of a number of alleged gangsters from the parish, including two men on the wanted list there, in targeted raids in the Corporate Area last week.
The wanted men held then were Christopher Boyd, otherwise called ‘Plank’, of both the Corporate Area and Flanker in Montego Bay, St James; and Lennox McLeod, otherwise called ‘Rus Eye’.
Additionally, at least seven guns, including high-powered rifles, were netted by the security forces in the parish last week.
That success following closely on the heels of the sensational security force raid that resulted in the fatal demise of the country’s then most wanted man, Delano ‘Prekeh Bwoy’ Wilmot, in his haunt in the Cambridge are of the parish.
In the latest security success story in the parish on Wednesday, six persons were taken into custody.
Reports are that about 6 am, a team of law enforcers went on an operation in search of wanted men in the Hendon area.
A house was searched and a Taurus 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition, and a black and chrome 9mm pistol, were found.
The team conducted follow-up operations at a cook shop in the community, were another search was done and another firearm, a Glock 9mm handgun, and seven 9mm rounds of ammunition, were found.
The identities of the persons who have been taken into custody are being withheld by the police, pending further investigation.
The police are appealing to persons with information about wanted men and/or firearms to contact the nearest police station, Crime Stop at 311, or the police 119 emergency number.
