St James murder tally flies over 300 mark Loop News Created : 30 November 2017 Jamaica News The St James murder tally has now surpassed the 300 mark since the beginning of this year following last night's shooting death of a man in Barrett Town in the parish. Another man was also shot and injured during the attack. The deceased has been identified as Paul Smith of a Barrett Town, St James address. The latest killing in the parish has pushed the murder tally to a record 302 since the start of the year. Reports are that about 10:30pm a group of men were at a shop in Barrett Town when they were pounced upon by gunmen who opened fire hitting Smith and another man. The two were taken to the Falmouth Public General Hospital where Smith was pronounced dead and the other injured man admitted. The recent killing spree on St James has prompted Commissioner of Police George Quallo to lead a tour of some of the crime hotspots in St James today. The tour is now underway.
