St James man kills his 'wife', her daughter and himself

A man who killed his common-law wife and her daughter in St James early on Sunday morning is believed to have committed suicide by driving a motor vehicle into the Rio Cobre in St Catherine, where he drowned.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old petrol service station supervisor, Diane Smith; her 16- year-old daughter, Jayshenel Gordon; and Fabian Lucan, all of Rose Mount in St James.

Diane Smith... had her throat slashed.

Reports are that about 2:00 a.m., Lucan and Smith had a dispute at home, during which he used a knife to slash her throat.

He then slashed the throat of the 16-year-old student while she was reportedly asleep.

The enraged man then drove away from the premises in Smith's Nissan Tiida motorcar, along with his 13-year-old son.

It was later discovered that Lucan's body was fished from the Rio Cobre in St Catherine.

The fate or whereabouts of his son have not been established so far.
