St James man dies after being hit down by motorcycle
A motorcyclist has been warned for prosecution after his vehicle mowed down a male pedestrian along the Lawson main road in Anchovy, St James on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Clive Bernard of Roehampton in the parish.
Police reports indicated that about 7:30 p.m., Bernard was walking along the roadway when the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle he was driving, which hit Bernard.
Both men sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital, where Bernard later died.
The driver of the motorcycle was admitted in stable condition.
The St James police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, the Road Safety Unit (RSU) in the Ministry of Transport and Mining has reported that a total of 131 persons have died on the nation’s roadways since the start of the year. This represents a 35 per cent increase or 34 more than the 97 road deaths that were recorded for the corresponding period last year.
