St Elizabeth man gets 20 years for chopping ex-girlfriend to death

A St Elizabeth man who pleaded guilty on February 28, to the chopping death of his ex-girlfriend in the parish, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the offence.

Marshall Taylor, 29, was sentenced for the death of 20-year-old Leesha Cooper.

The sentence was handed down on Monday, when Taylor appeared in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court.

Taylor, who is from Lacovia in the parish, must serve 15 years before he is eligible for parole consideration.

Cooper was chopped to death on January 1, 2016, during an argument with Taylor.

Following investigations by the police, Taylor was arrested and charged.
