St Andrew High School gets new principal

St Andrew High School for Girls has announced the appointment of Keeva Ingram as principal of the institution.

Ingram's appointment becomes effective at the beginning of the upcoming school term, September 1, 2019, the institution's board announced in a news release on Thursday.

Ingram will replace Sharon Reid as headmistress at the school. Reid is proceeding on leave prior to her retirement, after serving the school for 37 years, 19 years as principal, the release stated,

Ingram’s selection as  principal, the school's board said, has been endorsed by the Methodist and United Churches and approved by the Ministry of Education Youth and Information.

A past student of St Andrew High, Ingram joined the academic staff at the school in 1998 as a teacher of Management of Business, Economics and Entrepreneurship and was appointed vice principal of the Lower School in 2018.

She holds a Masters of Education in Educational Administration (UWI) and a Batchelors of Science in Professional Management (Nova Southeastern University, USA) and a Diploma in Education (UTECH).

She earned her Professional Qualification for Principalship from the National College for Educational Leadership in 2016.

"The School Family and students have welcomed Mrs Ingram’s appointment, noting her leadership and her effective and sustained involvement in all aspects of school life over her 17 years at the school," the release said.

Ingram has also served the school as assistant dean of discipline, grade coordinator (Grades 8 & 12) and teacher representative to the PTA.

In addition to her teaching, Ingram has brought her administrative skills in curriculum planning, programme administration, innovation and strategic planning to the school, according to the board.

"She has assisted in developing and managing the school’s systems for increased efficiency in operations and performance having served as the coordinator for e-learning, the School Information Management System (SIMS) and the Student Evaluation of Staff," added the board in the release.

Ingram is the second St Andrew Old Girl to be appointed principal since the school’s founding in 1925.
