SPF to bring Ocho Rios alive for Independence
The SPF Weekend will be held August 4 to 6 and organisers are promising three days of fun-filled parties for those who venture to the town of Ocho Rios, St Ann for the event.
It will have three parties on three consecutive days, kicking off on Friday, August 4, with KLE’s Forever Beach Party at Chukka Bay, which will begin at 11:00 pm and end at 4:00 am Saturday morning.
Those partying for the season will get the opportunity to rest before they head to the Chill Party, at 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm at Dunns River Central Gardens.
The SPF Weekend will finish with the Soiree SPF Beach Party, which will begin at 11:00 am and go until 6:00 pm.
SPF 2017 launch
According to SPF director David Shirley, who is also the chairman of KLE Group, the Forever Beach Party will be a bonfire event, with Tiki Lamps and will consist of high-energy music ranging from oldies hits to current chart toppers.
Chill Party will have music from the “modern era” with the Soiree Beach Party consisting of, according to Shirley, “the who is who, dressed in beach wear with good music and good food”.
Shirley, in an interview with Loop News reporter Job Nelson at the SPF Weekend launch at CRU Bar on Lady Musgrave Road last Tuesday, said SPF came out of a need to keep the party vibes going over Jamaica’s Independence weekend.
He said, “growing up in Jamaica, Independence weekend was one that you always looked forward to; going to the country to party.
“It seemed to have tapered off, so we saw a void and decided to create this event in Ocho Rios, with carefully planned and spaced out parties, so that it is not overbearing. The way we have spaced it, it can cater to all age groups, because it is not too hectic and it is not too slow paced.
“It is all about experiencing the north coast. Good vibes, good fun and clean entertainment,” Shirley said.
