Soon you'd be able to pay with Mastercard with a selfie

Making payments by swiping your credit card may soon be a thing of the past.

After successful trials in The Netherlands, the United States and Canada, Mastercard will now accommodate payments with fingerprint and self-identification in 12 countries in Europe.

Upon purchase, the credit card's Identity Check mobile app will prompt users to blink which will allow them to complete online and app-based purchases without a password or a PIN. This is Mastercard's latest move towards ensuring more secure methods of payment technology.

The new feature will be introduced outside of Europe in phases next year.
