A father is now dead and his son on the run a after a family dispute in Green Pond, St James on Thursday evening.
The dead man has been identified as 59-year-old Clifton Thorpe.
Police are now searching for his son, Akeem Thorpe, 27.
Police report that about 7:45 pm, a dispute developed at the family house after the younger Thorpe was accused of breaking into his elder brother’s room and stealing US$7,000 in cash.
The father and two of his other sons attempted to restrain Akeem in a bid to search his person for the missing money, when he reportedly pulled a ratchet knife and stabbed his father in the chest. He then scaled a fence and made his escape.
The elder Thorpe was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police in St James have since issued an appeal for Akeem Thorpe to turn himself in.
