Soldier shot and injured in St James

A member of the Jamaica Defence Force (National Reserve) was pounced upon and shot and injured by a group of unknown assailants as he arrived at his St James home, Monday night.

Reports are that about 8:30 pm, the reserve army man, who is also an educator, was entering his Retirement, Granville, St James home when he came under gun attack.

He managed to return the fire, but after the shooting subsided, he discovered that he was shot in the thigh.

He was subsequently rushed to hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition.

The Granville police are investigating.

A state of public emergency or a state of heightened security has been in place in St James since January 18.
