Six stocks record double-digit gains during Tuesday's trading
The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) gained ground on Tuesday with a number of stocks showing double-digit gains.
Cargo Handlers gained 20.1 per cent to close at $7.28; GWest Corporation gained 19 per cent to close at $0.99; Dolphin Cove gained 18 per cent to close at $6.50; JMMB Preference shares gained 15 per cent to close at $1.51; First Rock Capital gained 12 per cent to US$0.09 and Mayberry Investments gained 10.5 per cent to $5.69.
The top declining stock was Palace Amusement down 27 per cent to $1,100, Eppley Limited preference shares down 12.7 per cent to $6.37 and Caribbean Cream down 10.5 per cent to $4.24.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 1,873.13 points (0.52 per cent) to close at 364,217.74 and the JSE Index advanced by 1,545.95 points (0.42 per cent) to close at 366,576.42.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,674.54 points (0.42 per cent) to close at 401,637.06. The Junior Market Index advanced by 42.01 points (1.71 per cent) to close at 2,504.01. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.78 points (0.43 per cent) to close at 183.31. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.12 points (0.12 per cent) to close at 96.29. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index advanced by 0.89 points (1.21 per cent) to close at 74.36.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 81 stocks of which 43 advanced, 29 declined and 9 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 7,667,061 units valued at over $36,050,557.21. Transjamaican Highway was the volume leader with 1,971,567 units (25.71 per cent) followed by JMMB Group Limited 7.50 per cent with 863,196 units (11.26 per cent) and Wigton Windfarm with 763,084 units (9.95 per cent).
