Prime Minister Andrew Holness has offered condolences to the family of Judith Sharras, a senior administrator in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) who passed away over the weekend, reportedly from complications with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

“It is with great sadness that I learnt of the passing of a senior administrator at the Office of the Prime Minister, Mrs Judith Sharras,” the prime minister said in a social media post.

“Mrs Sharras was a hardworking and diligent member of the OPM family and we are deeply shocked and saddened by her death.

“I send my deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, friends and colleagues in this difficult time,” Holness further said in the post.

Sharras is the second senior member of staff at the OPM to have died recently. Shawn Grey, Principal Director, Performance Management and Evaluation Unit in the Cabinet Office, died on August 26.

Their deaths followed the temporary closure of at least one office within the OPM complex recently, amid reports of a suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) case there.

Contacted for confirmation about reports of the cause of Sharras’ death, a senior OPM representative declined comment on Sunday afternoon, resulting in Loop News being still unable to be definitive on the matter.
