Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay of the Jamaica Constabulary Force will address the  Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP) on matters of personal safety and security on Monday.

Lindsay, Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Corporate Communications Unit, will be sharing insights on this issue which has been a cause for concern in light of recent attacks on seniors at CCRP’s AGM.

Statistically, crimes against seniors have risen in number across the island over the years and might continue on that path if action is not taken against it; examples of some of these incidents will be discussed to provide a context for the CCRP members.

“Seniors are vulnerable and they need to be equipped with knowledge on how to protect themselves, which will help us to stem the number of victims of crimes committed against them,” Lindsay noted.

Jean Lowrie-Chin, CCRP Founder and Executive Chair said, “"We are grateful to Supt Lindsay for agreeing to share her knowledge on personal safety and security with our members. We invited her after hearing of the horrific attacks on our beloved seniors in recent weeks. We do hope that citizens will pay special attention to the elderly in their communities. They must be protected."

The meeting will also address the activities of the organization towards the well-being of their members. These include advocacy, social and awareness events, as well as the engagement of over 80 discount partners, resulting in considerable savings.

Representatives of Sagicor will also be giving updates to members on their major medical health plan which is offered to CCRP members at a special rate.
