Security guard allegedly chased, held with gun, ammo in St Ann

The St Ann police arrested a 31-year-old security guard after an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition were allegedly found in a bag that he had in his possession on Wednesday night.

The accused man is Adrian Bennett, alias ‘Frost’, of Roadside district in St Ann's Bay.

He was slapped with charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition after being questioned by the police.

Reports are that about 7:10 p.m., lawmen were in the St Ann's Bay area conducting operations, when they saw Bennett who aroused their suspicion.

He reportedly ran upon seeing the officers, but was subsequently accosted and searched.

It is further reported that 51 assorted rounds of ammunition and a Taurus 9mm pistol were found in a bag that he was carrying.

Bennett was subsequently arrested and charged.

A date for him to appear before the parish court has not yet been set, according to the police.
