A man who was accused of killing 14-year-old Jamaica College student, Nicholas Francis, pleaded guilty to the offence in the Home Circuit Court on Thursday.

The accused man, Quacie Hart, stabbed young Nicholas to death over the boy's cell phone while both were travelling on a bus in St Andrew on October 26, 2016.

Hart approached the boy and attempted to grab his belongings, but the child resisted and an argument developed.

Hart then used a knife to stab Nicholas in his chest, then fled the vehicle as stunned passengers called the police while assisting the student.

The boy was rushed to hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hart was held a few days after the incident and charged with murder.

He is to be brought back to court on July 5, when a sentence is to be handed down.
