Saratoga Sight to stop Wayne DaCosta's four-prong attack
Trainer Gary Subratie’s SARATOGA SIGHT has had most of his 15 rivals behind in his last four races, once last month and thrice in March, giving the six-year-old chestnut a great chance to outstay Anthony Nunes’ SOTOMAYOR and Wayne DaCosta’s quartet of runners, UNCLE FRANK, MADAM SECRETARY, WINTER IS COMING and LOTTERY TICKET.
They will face off in a three-year-old and up overnight allowance race over seven furlongs.
SARATOGA SIGHT has been holding her own against a galaxy of stars such as BIGDADDYKOOL and SHE’S A MANEATER. The six-year-old chestnut was twice beaten by SUPERLUMINAL, and had losses against his stablemate, NUCLEAR FLIGHT, speedy ANOTHER VIGOROUS and unbeaten American, STRANGER DANGER.
After that, SARATOGA SIGHT was pitted against 2000 Guineas-bound three-year-old, RUN THATCHER RUN, and MASTER OF HALL, who he had allowed 14lb, losing by four and three-quarter lengths in 1:37.0 the fastest time at the distance since WILL IN CHARGE’s Diamond Mile run in December.
Anthony Nunes’ SOTOMAYOR had allowed SARATOGA SIGHT four pounds when finishing a length and a half behind him for fourth when both went down to RUN THATCHER RUN and MASTER OF HALL.
It should be noted, though, that when SOTOMAYOR came with his usual run inside the last furlong, SARATOGA SIGHT had long made his move, three and a half furlongs out, and was battling RUN THATCHER RUN for the lead at the top of the lane before losing in a driving finish.
First post for this afternoon’s 13-race card is 1:00 pm.
