Salada Foods up 21% to lead stock market gains last week
Salada Foods, Pulse Investments and Productive Business Solutions (PBS) led last week’s activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) with double-digit gains.
Salada gained 21 per cent to close at $15.89, Pulse gained 15 per cent to close at $3.55 and PBS gained 15 per cent to close at US$0.59.
The week’s biggest losers were C2W Music, down 17 per cent to close at $1.71, and Jamaican Teas, down 10.5 per cent to close at $4.30.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 4,271.71 points (1.32 per cent) to close at 323, 207.31. The JSE Index advanced by 4,204.98 points (1.34 per cent) to close at 314,379.69. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 4,615.22 points (1.34 per cent) to close at 345,050.21.
The JSE Select Index advanced by 93.11 points (0.99 per cent) to close at 9,368.16. The Junior Market Index advanced by 37.10 points (1.19 per cent) to close at 3,130.20. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 10.43 points (6.72 per cent) to close at 155.14.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 98 stocks of which 34 advanced, 30 declined and 34 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 54,494,032 units valued at over $261,725,830.70. JMMB Group Limited 7.50 per cent was the volume leader with 28,754,000 units (52.77 per cent) followed by Jamaica Stock Exchange with 5,348,997 units (9.82 per cent) and Lasco Financial Services Limited with 2,825,351 units (5.18 per cent) .
