The Spanish Court Hotel was a buzz last Thursday evening as Sagicor Bank Jamaica (SBJ) and Sagicor Investments Jamaica (SIJ) expressed their appreciation to companies and individuals who participated in the $US133.5 million syndicated  loan to Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP).

The loan was part of a refinancing process to utilize assets for the growth and expansion of CACAO JEP Limited, the principal shareholder of JEP and West Kingston Power Partners.

Sagicor Bank acted as lead arranger for J$11.6 billion in syndicated loans; while Sagicor Investments was lead arranger for $5.4 billion in bonds.

The primary mandate of the project is to stimulate growth and encourage national development and provide cheaper electricity rates to Jamaicans.

The hotel Valencia room was elegantly transformed, dripping in gold hues, accentuated by the signature Sagicor blue. The décor truly reflected the celebratory nature of the event and served as the perfect setting for the evening’s programme. Guests were treated to a full course meal that tantalized their taste buds courtesy of celebrity caterer Jacqui Tyson, while they were entertained by The Paul Madden Ensemble featuring vocalist Andrew Cassonova. To keep the audience engaged and the programme flowing was the always effervescent media personality and seasoned emcee Jennifer “Jenny Jenny” Small.

To top off the celebratory event, the financial institutions, corporate entities and individuals who came together to make the transaction possible were presented with a symbolic award to recognise the partnership.
