Safety manager shot dead by gunmen at construction site in St Ann

Investigators are probing the shooting death of a man who was employed as the safety manager at the construction site of a major hotel on the Northern Coastal Highway near Mammee Bay in St Ann on Saturday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased, who is believed to be from St James, has not yet been released.

Preliminary reports are that about 2:30 p.m., the safety manager was standing across the roadway from the construction site, when a white motorcar was driven up.

Further reports are that the men in the car engaged the safely manager in a conversation.

One of the men in the car then pulled a firearm and shot the safety manager in the upper body.
