RSPL: Harbour View deny UWI top spot; Reno whip Portmore

Former champions Harbour View denied the University of the West Indies (UWI) FC the chance to replace Arnett Gardens atop the Red Stripe Premier League,  by winning their clash 1-0, at the UWI Bowl on Match Day Eight on Sunday.

Micheal Lutas scored the lone goal in the 14th minute and the result pushes Harbour View to 13 points, the same as Portmore United.

Despite the defeat, UWI FC remain in second place on 14 points, one behind leaders Arnett Gardens, which are slated to play in the Monday night fixture against eighth-placed Montego Bay United.

Humble Lion, Reno and Tivoli Gardens also secured victories on the day.

Humble Lion achieved the day's biggest win by defeating promoted team Sandals South Coast 4-0 in their bottom-of-the-table fixture at  Effortville in Clarendon to climb out of the relegation zone. They moved from 11th place to ninth, while Sandals South Coast remain at the bottom on three points gained from three draws.

Veteran Wolry Wolfe led Humble Lion with a double strike (13th and 73rd minutes). Ricardo Dennis (56th minute) and Andrew Vanzie (63rd minute) scored the other goals for the host team.

Over at the Frome Sports complex,  Reno humbled last season's beaten finalists Portmore United 3-0, courtesy of a 33rd minute strike from Craig Foster, a 53rd minute strike from Fancy-Hue Stewart and a 90th minute goal from Afiba Chambers. 

With the victory, Reno climbed a spot to sixth with 12 points, the same as fifth-placed Tivoli Gardens, which scored two goals late in the match to deny Waterhouse their second win.

Colorado Murray scored both goals for Tivoli Gardens to lead his team to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory.

Murray scored his first goal seven minutes from full time and found the winner four minutes into added time.

Kenroy Lumthen had given Waterhouse the lead in the third minute.

Over at the Barbican field, Javanni Campbell scored two minutes from the end as Boys' Town earned a 1-1 draw against Cavalier, the other promoted team.

Alex Marshall had given Cavalier a 33rd minute lead from the penalty spot.

The result pushes Boys' Town into the relegation zone with six points, one ahead of 10th-placed Waterhouse and ninth-placed Montego Bay United.
