RSPL: Arnett beat Harbour View to move 5 points clear atop the table
Reigning champions Arnett Gardens and Montego Bay United were among the winners on the opening day of second round action in the 2017-2018 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) on Sunday.
Arnett Gardens bounced back from a tough 2-2 draw against Cavalier on Thursday by securing a 2-1 victory at Harbour View in a late game.
The victory pushes Arnett Gardens to 26 points, five clear atop the 12-team points' table for at least 24 hours, as second-place Portmore United will meet Cavalier in the Monday night fixture at the Stadium East field.
Fabian Reid scored a goal in each half to lead Arnett to the victory. His goals came in the 21st and 64th minutes.
Harbour View pulled back a goal through Andrew Allen, three minutes after Arnett had opened up a two-goal lead and the defeat pushes the 'Stars of the East" down to eighth place with 13 points.
Montego Bay United also secured a similar 2-1 victory. They defeated Tivoli Gardens in the other late game, at the Montego Bay Complex.
All three goals were scored in the space of eight minutes with Tivoli Gardens taking the lead through Tevin Shaw in the 83rd minute. Nicholas Amponsah found the equaliser for Montego Bay United in the 85th minute and Johann Weatherly got the winner for the home team in the first minute of time added on.

With the victory, Montego Bay United climbed a place to seventh with 15 points.
Over at the Drewsland Stadium, University of the West Indies (UWI) FC also ruined their chances to move ahead of Portmore United by going down 2-1 against struggling Waterhouse.

Waterhouse improved a place to ninth with 12 points, three points clear of the relegation zone; while UWI FC remain in third spot with 19 points, the same as fourth-place Tivoli Gardens.
