‘Robber and would-be-rapist’ chopped to death by mob in St Ann

A robber who attempted to rape his young female victim ended up facing the wrath of angry residents of Moneague in St Ann, who mercilessly chopped him to death on Saturday.

The deceased man, who is so far unidentified, is said to have been in his twenties.

Reports reaching Loop News are that about 11:30 a.m., the man reportedly held up the teenage girl in a section of the Moneague community and robbed her of a cellphone.

The hoodlum was not satisfied with taking the girl's possession, and reportedly attempted to forcefully engage her in sexual acts.

Before the sexual assault could be carried out, the female managed to raise an alarm and residents, including her relatives, came to her assistance.

The residents, armed with machetes, attacked the robber and chopped him several times all over his body.

The police were later summoned to the scene, and the man was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police said the man was of dark complexion and medium built.

He was clad in a white shirt, a pair of brown shorts and a pair of black slippers.

Further police investigations are being conducted into the incident.
