The usually quiet rural community of Highgate in St Mary was rocked by a double murder after gunmen invaded a house there on Saturday afternoon.

Two men were shot and killed, while a female was shot and injured in Frazerhood district in Highgate.

One of the deceased is said to have been a reputed gang leader in St Ann, who was out on bail for a number of serious criminal offences.

He has been identified as Rayon Walker, otherwise called 'Evil'.

The other deceased man is Andre Black, otherwise called 'Brimma', of Frazerhood district.

Reports are that at about 3:30 p.m., gunmen went to a yard in Frazerwood, where they shot three persons.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead at hospital.

The female who was injured has been hospitalised in serious condition.

The crime scene investigation resulted in a section of the roadway in the area being cordoned off, which hampered vehicular traffic from Highgate to Guy's Hill in St Catherine.

So far a definite motive has not been established by the police for the attack.

St Mary has recorded 25 murders since the start of the year, four more than the 21 homicides which were recorded there for all of last year.
