Reggae Girlz bow out of Pan American Game without a point
Jamaica's Reggae Girlz bowed out of the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru without a point after crashing to a 3-1 defeat against Paraguay in their final Group A match on Saturday.
Jessica Martinez handed Paraguay an early goal with a fourth-minute strike but Chanel Hudson-Marks equalised in the 31st-minute, the only goal for Jamaica at the tournament.
The teams went into the break at the San Marcos Stadium locked at 1-1. On the resumption, Martinez added her second goal in the 63rd minute while Dulce Quintana completed the scoring in the first minute of time added on.
It was the seventh straight defeat for the Reggae Girlz, starting with their 3-2 loss against Scotland in the United Kingdon on May 28, just before travelling to France for their World Cup finals debut where they lost all three games.
With the victory, Paraguay finished atop the group with seven points from their three games, two points clear of Colombia, which finished second on five points after battling to a 2-2 draw with Mexico in the opening game at the venue.
Mexico ended third with four points with Jamaica at the bottom of the table without a point.
