Reggae Boyz midfielder Peter-Lee Vassell was on Friday selected as the number 40th pick by Los Angeles Football Club in the 2019 US  Major League Soccer (MLS) Draft.

Vassell was selected in the second round as the 16th pick.

The 19-year-old Vassell is one of the few players who was not selected out of college, as he has been playing professionally for Harbour View FC since 2017.

According to the MLS Draft match stream, the Jamaican will likely join Los Angeles Football Club on loan for the 2019 season.

Vassell, who was selected MVP at the 2018 Caribbean Combine was invited to the main MLS Combine last week.

He has eight senior caps  for his country and has scored five goals.

Reports indicated that Vassell will have a much better chance of making the Los Angeles Football Club first-team roster than most players taken at number 40.
