‘Ratty’ charged for ‘gun assault of granduncle while demanding money’

Detectives from the St Andrew Central Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have arrested and charged a man who allegedly pulled a gun on his granduncle during a fuss over money less than a month ago on Old Hope Road in the parish.

Charged with assault at common law and illegal possession of firearm is 22-year-old Ronaldo Buchanan, otherwise called ‘Ratty’, of Old Hope Road, St Andrew.

Reports from the Stadium Gardens police are that on Tuesday, September 29 at about 9:05 pm, Buchanan allegedly demanded money from his granduncle.

When his demands were not met, an altercation developed, and Buchanan reportedly brandished a firearm and threatened his granduncle.

The matter was reported to the police and following an investigation, Buchanan was arrested on Thursday, October 1.

He was subsequently charged with the offences.

A date for his appearance in court is being finalised by the police.
