Rain causes visibility problem on Portmore toll road

Motorists heading towards the Portmore leg of Highway 2000 are being urged to proceed with caution as heavy rainfall that is currently lashing sections of the island, including St Catherine, is causing visibility problems along the roadway.

“At this point, it would be wise for motorists traveling towards this area to reduce their speed, and to drive with extra care,” a motorist on the roadway told Loop News.

There are reports that the rains have also caused flooding and debris pile-up along some major thoroughfares in the Corporate Area.

Last Monday, a similar situation arose with heavy rains causing severe flooding in areas such as Molynes Road.

The extent of the problem was highlighted in a video that was circulating online, showing a number of vehicles partially submerged in floodwaters on that particular roadway in St Andrew.
