‘Putus’ the mechanic perishes in St Ann's first road tragedy for 2019

A 23-year-old mechanic became the first road fatality in St Ann for 2019 following a motor vehicle collision on the Discovery Bay main road on Thursday.

The deceased man has been identified as Jerome Hall, otherwise called 'Putus,' of Keith district in Brown’s Town, St Ann.

The police reported that about 3:30 p.m., Hall was driving a Yamaha 600 motorcycle towards Ocho Rios when he collided with a Toyota Corolla motorcar.

Both drivers sustained multiple injuries and were taken to hospital, where Hall was pronounced dead and the driver of the car was admitted for treatment.

In response to the tragedy, several persons reacted in shock at the passing of the young mechanic, on social media site, Facebook.

"RIP mi yute. Can't believe yuh gone. Yuh a one a the realest youth mi ever know. Yuh neva deserve to go like this," one social media user posted.

Another individual shared: "He (Jerome Hall) bled out. No one to save him. God rest his soul. No protective gear couldn't help him. My condolences to his relatives and friends. Be safe please."

The St Ann traffic police are continuing a probe into the incident.
