Purity led gains during Monday's trading

Consolidated Bakeries (Purity) led gains during Monday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

The stock gained 20 per cent to close at $2.40 on the day. It was followed by Sterling Investments up 11.6 per cent to close at $25 and Jamaica Broilers up 10.3 per cent to close at $32.96.

The day’s top declining stock went to Scotia Group Jamaica down 6.6 per cent to close at $57.30.

The JSE Combined Index declined by 769.28 points ( 0.20 per cent) to close at 385,729.23. The Junior Market Index advanced by 9.89 points ( 0.29 per cent) to close at 3,425.09. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.12 points ( 0.07 per cent) to close at 175.27.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 55 stocks of which 23 advanced, 21 declined and 11 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 14,927,771 units valued at over $236,648,843.64. WISYNCO Group LTD was the volume leader with 10,075,318 units (67.49 per cent) followed by NCB Financial Group  with 609,701 units (4.08 per cent) and Jamaica Producers Group with 551,409 units (3.69 per cent) .
