Purity, Cargo Handlers led gains during Tuesday’s trading
Consolidated Bakeries (Purity) and Cargo Handlers led gains during Tuesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
On Tuesday, Purity gained 19 per cent to close at $1.98. It was followed by Cargo Handlers up 16 per cent to close at $11. Pulse increased 15 per cent to close at $4.47.
The day’s big loser went to Elite Diagnostics down 10 per cent to $5.53.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 1,521.92 points (0.31 per cent) to close at 495,560.64, the JSE Index declined by 2,016.16 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 498,836.52.
Meanwhile, the Junior Market Index advanced by 30.63 points (0.91 per cent) to close at 3,393.46 and the JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.53 points 0.78 per cent) to close at 196.68.
The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.49 points (0.36 per cent) to close at 136.19.
Also on the day, the JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.74 points (0.77 per cent) to close at 94.90.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 66 stocks of which 38 advanced, 21 declined and 7 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 45,104,341 units valued at over $1.8 billion. Barita was the volume leader with 21,645,908 units (47.99per cent) followed by Wigton Windfarm with 13,820,648 units (30.64per cent) and Sagicor Select with 2,666,245 units (5.91 per cent).
