Purity up 23% to lead JSE gains last week

Consolidated Bakeries (Purity) led gains on the week's trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

The Purity stock increased by 23.08 per cent to close at $2.60. It was followed by Salada, up 12 per cent to $1.50; and Lasco Distributors and Main Event which both gained 11 per cent to close at $3.56 and $6.05 respectively.

The top declining stock was Kingston Properties, down 28 per cent to close at $6.01, followed by CAC2000, down 19 per cent to close at $7.30; Paramount, 18.5 per cent to close at $3.03; and Mayberry Investments, down 15.9 per cent to close at $6.04.

The JSE Combined Index advanced by 730.74 points to close at 290,594.07.

The JSE Index advanced by 1,300.32 points to close at 284,016.29. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,427.15 points to close at 311,724.51.

The JSE Select Index advanced by 26.79 points to close at 8,314.03. The Junior Market Index declined by 43.47 points to close at 2,697.52. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 4.68 points to close at 168.75.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 94 stocks of which 21 advanced, 32 declined and 41 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 28,459,211 units valued at over $406.3 million. WISYNCO was the volume leader with 4,744,305 units followed by Victoria Mutual  with 3,251,763 units and GWEST with 3,052,886 units (10.73 per cent).
