Proven and Paramount led stock gains Thursday

Investment firm Proven and Paramount Trading, which distributes construction material, led gains Thursday in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

Proven gained 13 per cent to close at $40 while Paramount gained 12 per cent to close at $1.68. The day’s biggest loser was General Accident, down 12.6 per cent to $5.13.

The JSE Combined Index advanced by 32.94 points ( 0.01 per cent) to close at 524,483.22. The JSE Index advanced by 415.87 points ( 0.08 per cent) to close at 527,695.85.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 457.63 points ( 0.08 per cent) to close at 579,616.77. The JSE Select Index declined by 13.57 points (0.10 per cent) to close at 13,637.77.

The Junior Market Index declined by 31.95 points ( 0.88 per cent) to close at 3,613.15. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.67 points ( 0.86 per cent) to close at 194.84. The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.15 points (0.10 per cent) to close at 143.75.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 68 stocks of which 31 advanced, 30 declined and seven traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 115,941,265 units valued at over $248.8 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 94,666,385 units(81.65per cent) followed by Sagicor Select Funds with 11,980,023 units (10.33 per cent) and Ciboney Group with 1,063,627 units (0.92 per cent).
