Praedial Larceny unit probes theft of more than 40 goats in Clarendon

Detectives assigned to the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit (PLPU) have commenced an investigation into the theft of over forty goats from a farm in Longville Park, Clarendon on Friday, March 31.

Reports are that about 7:45 am, the farmer noticed that over forty of his goats were missing that included lactating and medicated animals.

Head of the unit, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kevin Francis, is urging meat distributers and wholesalers to be vigilant when buying meat and are to ensure that the meat is stamped and certified.  He also encourages members of the public to be careful in purchasing goat meat, as some of the goats were recently medicated and some gave birth as recent asThursday.

The PLPU is appealing to anyone with information that can assist in their investigation to contact the Longville Park Police at 902-5047, Police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop 31, 811 or the nearest Police Station.
