Portmore United look set to restore 4-point lead in RSPL

Defending champions Portmore United will be out to restore their four-point lead atop the 2018-2019 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) when the country’s top tier football competition continues on Thursday with the remaining games of Match Day 16.

Waterhouse cut the deficit to a point on Wednesday with a 5-1 victory at relegation- threatened Harbour View, two days after the resignation of under-fire head coach Ricardo Gardner.

Now Portmore United will journey to Effortville Community Centre, in search of three points against Humble Lion, on their mission to enter the Christmas break atop the 12-team table.

The game is one of three scheduled for the day.

It will be a tricky assignment for Portmore United, which could only secure a point against Humble Lion at home when they met in the first round on September 30 at Spanish Town Prison Oval.

Since then, Portmore United, which were seventh place on four points, have secured another 27 points, good enough to place them atop the standings. The draw against Portmore United handed Humble Lion their first point of the season and since then the Clarendon-based team has secured 18 more points to climb from ninth to seventh place.

An interesting game looms, but based on what has transpired so far in the season Portmore United should bag all points this time around.
