Portmore United crash out of Scotiabank Concacaf League

Portmore United are out of the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League semifinals following a 2-0 defeat against Motagua in their quarterfinal second leg on Thursday night at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Rubilio Castillo bagged a brace to complete the Honduran side’s 5-2 aggregate victory over the Jamaicans.

The match took a dramatic turn in just the seventh minute of play when Portmore United Maalique Foster was sent off with a straight red card for a late challenge.

Playing a man up, Motagua took advantage and Castillo headed for a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute.

Portmore United had a glimmer of hope at the start of the second half when Motagua DF Henry Figueroa was whistled for a handball in the area, but Ricardo Morris’s penalty attempt slammed off the crossbar.

Chavany Willis was next to be foiled by the woodwork, this time on a right-footed shot that hit the post in the 67th minute would be the final chance for the islanders.

Castillo then settled matters with his second of the night in the 90+1’ to round out the scoring.
