Portland JSX led stock gains on Wednesday

Portland JSX led gains in Wednesday's trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

Portland gained 19 per cent to close at $10.70 with 62,000 units. Barita led declines, down 7.1 per cent to close at $6.50.

The JSE combined index declined by 986.80 points (0.39 per cent) to close at 251,099.29. The JSE Index declined by 952.70 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 235,347.03.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,045.65 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 258,307.11.

The Junior Market Index declined by 10.12 points (0.32 per cent) to close at 3,196.83.The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.72 points (0.95 per cent) to close at 183.12.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 43 stocks of which 18 advanced, 17 declined and eight traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 2,663,455 units valued at over $69,403,794.87Scotia Group Jamaica Limited was the volume leader with 734,967 units (27.59per cent) followed by GraceKennedy Limited with 468,413 units (17.59per cent) and Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited with 269,398 units(10.11 per cent).
