Portland hits double digits in murders

The parish with the island's least number of murders recorded this year, Portland has reported its 10th homicide.

A man was found with bullet wounds to the upper body in the Buff Bay area of the parish on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Odain McDonald of White River near Buff Bay.

Reports are that sometime after 10pm, residents heard explosions coming from a section of the area and alerted the police.

Sometime later, McDonald's body was found on a dirt track with gunshot wounds. 

He was later pronounced dead at hospital. 

Police have since launched an investigation into the incident. 

Portland has so far recorded 10 murders since the start of the year.
