Former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller earlier this week addressed the House of Representatives for the last time as a member of parliament.

Many MPs from both sides of the aisle paid tribute to the long-standing PNP stalwart who became the country’s first female Prime Minister. Former Prime Ministers made an especial effort to attend this momentous sitting of Parliament and she thanked them for their support throughout the years.

Addressing the House of Representatives she said: “This parliament is the bedrock of our stable democracy and our free society. It must celebrate the best of Jamaica. It must project what makes us a great people.”

Current Prime Minister Andrew Holness graciously held a reception for her at Vale Royal after her heart-felt speech.
