Politician dies after testing positive for COVID

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Councillor for the Fellowship Division in East Portland, Irvin Brown,  died on Tuesday after being in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a medical facility. 

The 61-year-old politican had fallen ill and had also tested positive for COVID-19, according to a release from Member of Parliament for East Portland, Annmarie Vaz. 

She said she is devastated as she "shared a close relationship and deep love for Councillor Brown who was committed to improving the lives of the people."

Vaz noted that Brown gave sterling service to the people of the Fellowship Division, and leaves behind a legacy of excellence and dedicated service. 

Vaz has also sent her condolences to the councillor's family, friends and colleagues.
