A member of the Peace Management Initiative (PMI), the non-government organisation (NGO) that provides mediation for persons involved in conflicts across the island, was shot and killed by gunmen in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Fitzroy Pearson, otherwise called ‘Bah’.
The attack took place on Monk Street in the old capital.
Reports from the Spanish Town police are that about 9:20 p.m., citizens heard explosions and summoned them.
On arrival of the police team, Pearson, of White Church Street, who is a phone technician and liaison officer for the PMI, was seen with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
Investigations continue into the development.
