Former Prime Minister PJ Patterson is now recuperating at home following his discharge from the Tony Thwaites Wing of the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) on Monday.

Patterson had been admitted to the hospital a week earlier following a motor vehicle accident at his upper St Andrew home.

The 84-year-old fractured his right hip and knee during the mishap and underwent surgery last Wednesday to correct the damage.

A statement from one of his aides on Monday said Patterson was discharged from the hospital following a comprehensive medical review and is now recuperating at home.

He will remain under the supervision of a medical team which will be enforcing a strict visitor policy to ensure that his recuperation is not compromised.

The former prime minister has thanked the medical team which was headed by Dr Kenneth Vaughn, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the UHWI.

He also expressed thanks to well-wishers and supporters for their concern.
